Kirsten started rowing at Worcester Rowing Club and RGS Worcester where she was part of the first ever girls crew to compete for the school. She moved on to Exeter University where she became an active member of the boat club, both as Women’s Captain and also as Secretary of the Athletics' Union.

Kirsten is also an active volunteer, starting out as a Junior Official at the World Championships in 2006. She is now also the Secretary of the Young Person's Panel as well as taking an active role at a number of events including the Junior Interregionals, HWR, BUCS and HOR4s. She currently rows for Thames Tradesmen.
