Women's Sports Foundation - Funding
Less than 10% of British coaches at the 2004 Olympics were women
(despite 40% of athletes at the Games being women)
The target for the 2012 London Games is for a minimum of 15% of British coaches to be female.

The Women’s Sports Foundation (WSF) has had a direct influence in bringing over £230K of funding into women’s sports coaching with its groundbreaking initiative, Women into Coaching – London.
Having received more than twice the total funding for Women into Coaching project, this new initiative will give 210 women from across London the opportunity to gain coaching qualifications up to NVQ level 3 in the eight sports, including rowing.
Restrictions
- You must be Working and living in London: i.e. you must be paying your council tax (if applicable) to a London Borough
- Funding cannot be used to support women working in the public sector
- Minimum applicant age is 16 years old
- You must have not received ESF funding for more than two consecutive years before applying for this project
- You must commit to completing the coaching qualification and attending all courses and training sessions
- You must provide us with documentation prior to starting your coaching course, this includes a passport copy and recent utility bill
- Preferably you should be involved in a club (depending on your particular sport) which may be able to support you to secure coaching placements

There will be a launch event at Auriol Kensington Rowing Club in Hammersmith on 25th October at 6.30pm where you will be able to get more information and have the chance to meet Zoe Calder from the Women’s Sports Foundation who manages this project.

If you cannot make this launch it does not in any way discount you from the scholarship. All interested parties will be required to apply, in writing, as set out below.
Successful applicants will be informed as soon as possible with the courses likely to be run in early 2007 and summer 2007.
