Regional support for Club Welfare Officers

By: p.r.

Juniors now comprise a significant, and increasing, percentage of active

rowers registered with the ARA.

The Thames region alone has almost 4000 junior participants which amounts to almost 50% of the total active junior rowers in England.

In recognition of the importance of the role that Club Welfare Officers perform within our Clubs, and the need for all coaches of juniors to be aware of their responsibilities in this area, the following are useful opportunities for members to get up to date:-

A) Club Welfare Seminars: aimed at Club Welfare Officers, Junior Coaches and other Club Officers in positions of authority within Clubs. These will be lead by Annamarie Phelps (ARA Child Protection Officer) who has specific responsibility for Club Welfare issues:-

  • Sunday 25th March at Maidenhead Rowing Club (2 - 4 pm)
  • Wednesday 28th March at Tideway Scullers School (7.30 - 9.30 pm) Free of Charge.
