RECREATIONAL ROWING
Rowing may have a reputation for demanding pre-dawn starts and hours of training to remain competitive, but there are plenty of clubs on the Thames who are happy to cater for rowers who are not necessarily interested in racing.
The following Thames region clubs cater for rowers who want to row for pleasure or who simply want to keep fit and improve their technique.

ANNUAL ROWING TOUR
The Amateur Rowing Association organises an annual rowing tour which is open to any ARA member who wishes to take part.
Tourers generally bring their own boats, which include coastal galleys, Mondegos and continental lake boats, but there may be some places available for people who do not have a boat.
The 2006 tour visits the River Great Ouse. The upper reaches of the river flow through one of the most peaceful and unspoilt water environments in Britain. They offer a wide range of natural and historical sites and pretty rural towns to visit. The lower reaches flow through the characteristic Fenland landscape with a skyline dominated by Ely Cathedral. Please see this word document for more information; bookings can be made using the booking form.
